To Boldly Flee, End of the Nostalgia Critic and more

(I go over spoilers, so if you don't want to read what i have to say, don't read it!)

Well, To Boldly Flee is over and my prediction is only 1% right. While the Critic didnt take a "Long Walk" he did give the ultimate sacrifice in the series universe, he went out with a bang, literally. The Critic took over the massive "plothole" that plagued them from part 1 and we got more Star Trek 3 references than ever before. Overall, i was pleased with the outcome of this movie, and the ending took me by surprise. Doug Walker is a genius with his writing and story telling, so for that i applaud him. Great acting by those involved and the story kept me in check and waiting for each next part. Easily this was my favorite of the 4 main yearly specials.

I was still new to the other reviewers when the Brawl came out, i focused mainly on Doug's videos and maybe one or two of the others.  I was introduced to the lot when it was released. It was awesome, and give me a chance to really see what these new guys had in store for us. When Kickassia came out, i wondered how would they top this, i mean, it was something else, a bunch of internet critics invade a micro nation. How on earth will Channel Awesome top this!? Enter Suburban Knights. This was the new bar, it was more friendly to those just joining the site and showed off some great comedy along the way.

THEN TO BOLDLY FLEE COMES.

Holy crap, Doug, what the hell man, you done it again. This had everything i could ask for in a special, action, drama, comedy, the works.

While I watched, there was a sinking feeling from what Doug said in a post saying that this was going to be the last large scale special for a while, what does this mean!? WELL, as we found out, the Critic goes into a massive wormhole known as the "plothole", and comes out in, Doug's house, yes, Doug's house. The Critic meets his own creator. I did not see this coming. I was hoping that Judge Critic would have had a larger part but it was just a gag for the middle of the movie. I can accept that, i loved that part.

After it was all said and done, the Critic merged with the plothole, ending the existence of the Nostalgia Critic.

In a video a night after the finale, Doug explained that yes, it was the end of the Nostalgia Critic as a weekly show and will bring him back on special occasions. He did announce that Channel Awesome is evolving and going onto bigger and better things including the purchases of a studio, a full size studio. Holy poop, this is big. I feel that this is a great opportunity for the site to continue to prosper.

I will be sad to see no new Nostalgia Critic episodes, they were a staple of my late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning routine. But like all things, we will go on. I am reminded of when  Indy Mogul  stopped doing BFX and focused more on the technical side of filmmaking. I didn't like it at first but then i realized i need a refresher course on all the things i used to know back in college and i continued to watch.

Good luck Doug, i will continue to watch, and remember why i watched you in the first place!
