Best thing about this trailer: IT TELLS YOU ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
You might hate something like this, but i rather like this idea. I hate when i am anticipating a movie and the trailer takes all the good parts and then ruins the rest of the movie. I cant stand studios doing that. This trailer is just what we need right now for us in the TGWTG fandom.
Side note:
If you havnt already known, Noah Antwiler aka Spoony, left the site just a week or so ago. There has been a lot of people going back and forth to who is responsible for his departure and no clear answer has been made by either party. An official post on TGWTG.com states that:
After recent events, Noah "The Spoony One" Antwiler and Channel Awesome have decided to part ways. Noah has made it clear that he wishes to pursue a course that is different from our own. We feel that with these different aims, it is better for Noah to be free to pursue his own goals unhindered by us.
Noah has been an immense talent on the site and we thank him for his years of hard service, both in numerous episodes of The Spoony Experiment and in the Channel Awesome Anniversary films.
We sincerely wish him the best in all future endeavors, and hope he continues to put out great quality work.
With this going on, i believe this is a time for unity in the fandom, but with everything going on between Spoony exclusive fans and Channel Awesome fans, its gonna be messy for a while. Being a fan of both sites and having no beef with either party, i chose to be neutral in this matter. Besides, i get a kick out of those who have been taking it too far. I only bring this up, because of what has been going on with the fans and why we need something like this to distract us from the B.S. thats been going around.
BACK ON TRACK WE GO!
Year 4 was teased in the alternative ending to Suburban Knights, showing Louis Lovhaug's "Mechakara" character, it was known to be science fiction. Being a huge fan of sci fi for many years, i cant wait for it.
The trailer bills this as a final journey for Doug Walker's Nostalgic Critic character, which i believe to be only for the trailer itself. You look at the trailer for Kickassia, they throw us a curve ball showing a good amount of the scenes out of context. You didnt know it was a comedy till you actually saw the movie, pure brilliance if you ask me. I can say that i have a feeling where they are going with this, and it might tie into something else, i have little to no knowledge about, Judge Dredd.
In an audio commentary on the Kickassia dvd, Doug Walker referenced Judge Dredd when The Cinema Snob is "exiled" from Kickassia and he wanted to use the music, but it was copyrighted. Judging (no pun intended) from the year 4 autographed print which the cast autographed for fans, Doug is dressed up as Judge Dredd. Could this mean that Doug is taking the "Long Walk"!? In the mythology of the Judge Dredd comic, a retiring "Judge" has the option of taking what is known as the long walk aka exiling themselves from the rest of society to "bring law to the lawless".
THE NOSTALGIC CRITIC IS TAKING THE LONG WALK!
There cant be a better explanation to why he is dressed up as Judge Dredd than that.
No other post has made this connection just yet, but i am sure with the theatrical trailer, my vision of this might become reality.
